Buying online in Libya
Libya's online retail is young and heavily social — much of it runs through Facebook and Instagram storefronts rather than conventional websites — and almost everything is settled in cash.
How the market works
Formal e-commerce sites exist but are outnumbered by social-media sellers, particularly in Tripoli and Benghazi. Fixed-price catalog listings are therefore a smaller share of the market than elsewhere in North Africa, and prices move quickly.
Prices are in Libyan dinars (LYD). A wide gap between official and parallel exchange rates means imported goods can reprice sharply, so treat older listings with caution.
